Copyright registration is the process of legally registering a creative work with the government to establish ownership and protection of the work’s intellectual property rights. Copyright registration provides evidence of the copyright owner’s exclusive rights to reproduce, distribute, display, and perform their work. It also serves as a deterrent against infringement and provides the copyright owner with legal remedies in case of unauthorized use. Copyright registration typically involves submitting an application, fee, and a copy of the work being registered to the appropriate government agency, such as the United States Copyright Office.

Copyright is a legal right given by law that grants the creator of an original work exclusive right for its use and distribution. The works that enjoy Copyright protection are books, novels, script, software, music, painting, movies, photographs, drawings, poems, songs, etc. Copyrights are registered under The Copyright Act, 1957 which protects original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works and cinematograph films and sound recordings from unauthorized uses. Copyright includes a bundle of the right like the rights of reproduction, communication to the public, adaptation, and translation of the work.
Copyrights are also transferrable. If your Copyright is registered then no person can copy your content in any form since you have the exclusive right to take legal action against that person restricting to copy or reproduce your unique content.
It should be kept in mind that ideas, procedures or methods of operation cannot be copyrighted. A separate application has to be made for separate works. It is not mandatory to get copyright but to protect the original works of the originator, it is advisable to get your work copyrighted. It motivates the owner to do more work.

Step 1: Application Preparation: Once you provide the required Information and documents, Legal Suvidha Copyright Expert will prepare the Copyright Application and an Authorisation Letter and send it to you for signature.
Step 2: Filing of Copyright Application: Once, the copyright application is prepared and signed by you, we can file it with the Registrar of Copyright.
Step 3: Copyright Registration: Once the Copyright Application is filed, you will get a copyright diary number, which is legal proof of your application. Copyright office will keep the application open for 30 days for objection. If no objection is received from any party, it typically takes 8 to 12 months for Copyright Certificate to be issued. 3. Nature of the work which includes the class & description of the work, the title of the Work, the language of the work and In case of website copyright, give the URL of the website, in case of any publication, date of publication.
Copyrights can be obtained for any unique and creative content. This could range from design, sketch, painting, song recording, music video, software, movie file, poem, book or even a short story.
Copyright protection is valid for 60 years. If it is literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works the 60 years is counted from the year following the death of the author. In the case of cinematograph films, sound recordings, photographs, anonymous and pseudonymous publications, works of government and works of international organizations, the 60 years is counted from the date of publication.
